Recommended yarn: medium weight or worsted weight (weight category #4). I used Red Heart Super Saver.

Recommended crochet hook: I9/5.5 mm or J10/6.00 mm

Stitches and abbreviations used: CH - chain, SC - single crochet, slip stitch.

The approximate size of a finished Scull and Bones Crochet Applique is 3in by 3 in (7.5 cm by 7.5 cm). You can make it smaller using smaller then recommended size crochet hook.

CH 3, join in a ring with a slip stitch.

Row #1: SC 6 in the ring.

Row #2: 2 SC in each stitch. Total should be 12 stitches after completing this row. Slip stitch at the end of the row.

CH 2, SC, SC (make a SC in the next stitch and another SC in the next following stitch). Cut off the yarn leaving approximately 9 in (23 cm) end: you will use it to sew the scull on.

CH 10, SC in the 3rd from the hook stitch, make 7 more SC stitches along. Cut off the yarn leaving approximately 9 in (23 cm) to sew the bone on.

Note: If you want the bones thinner - use slip stitches instead of SC stitches.

Make 2 bones !

Black yarn: CH 3, join in a ring with a slip stitch. Leave the yarn (approximately 9 in or 23 cm) to sew it on.

Sew the eyes to the scull. Using the piece of yarn from the second eye embroider the nose: make 2-3 stitches of black between the eyes.

The and secure the black yarn ends in the back of the scull.
