Garden Appliques.

Garden appliques contain free applique patterns for Ladybug, Sun, and a Flower with a stem. The patterns are simple and easy, I included pictures and very detailed descriptions of each step- you simply can not fail! :) Use these appliques to decorate hats, bibs, blankets or you can make a colorful panno with them for the walls of the kid's room.

Recommended weight yarn: Medium to worsted weight (weight category #4) I used Red Heart Super Saver .

Recommended crochet hook size: I 9 (5.5 mm) to J 10 (6.00 mm)

Abbreviations and stitches used:

CH - chain, SC - single crochet, DC - double crochet, TC - treble crochet.

The approximate sizes of the crochet garden appliques if you use recommended yarn weight and hook size:

Crochet Ladybug applique: 3 1/2 in by 2 in (9 cm by 5 cm)

Crochet Sun applique: 3 in in diameter (7.5 cm)

Crochet Flower with a stem: 5 in by 2 1/2 in (13 cm by 6.5 cm)

Crochet Butterfly: 2 in by 2 in (5 cm by 5 cm)

Note: you can make the size of any crochet applique smaller - just take the smaller size crochet hook. (The thinner yarn can be used as well).


LADYBUG CROCHET APPLIQUE PATTERN.


CH 3, join in a ring with a slip stitch.

Row #1: CH 1, SC 4 in the ring.

Row #2: Turn, CH 1, 2 SC in the 1st stitch, 2 SC in the 2nd stitch, 2 SC inthe 3rd stitch, SC in the 4th stitch.

Row #3: Turn, CH 1, SC in the 1st stitch, 2SC in the 2nd stitch, SC in the 3rd stitch, 2 SC in the 4th stitch, SC in the 5th stitch, 2 SC in the 6th stitch, SC in the 7th stitch.

Row #4: Turn, CH 1, SC in the 1st stitch, SC in the 2nd stitch, 2 SC in the 3rd stitch, SC in the 4th stitch, SC in the 5th stitch, 2SC in the 6th stitch, SC in the 7th stitch, SC in the 8th stitch, 2 Sc in the 9th stitch, SC in the 10th stitch.

Row #5: Turn, CH 1, [SC in the 1st stitch, SC in the 2nd stitch, SC in the 3rd stitch, 2 SC in the 4th stitch]. Repeat [ ] 2 more times, SC in the last stitch.

Attach the black yarn as shown.

Black yarn: CH 1 and SC in each stitch along the row.

The head: continue with the black yarn: CH 3, 3DC in the last SC stitch of the black row.

Slip stitch to join the head with the body as shown.


Eye: yellow yarn: make a knot for an eye and attach the knot to the head (just tye the ends at the back size).

The black spots: CH 3, join in a ring with a slip stitch. Cut off the yarn leaving approximately 6 in long to sew the spot on. Make 3 spots.



SUN CROCHET APPLIQUE PATTERN

The center:

CH 3, join in a ring with a slip stitch.

Row #1: SC 6 in the ring.

Row #2: 2 SC in each stitch, slip stitch at the end.

First ray:

Step 1: CH 4


Step 2: Slip stitch in the 2nd from the hook stitch, 2 more slip stitches in 2 stitches of the chain (CH 4)

Step 3: Slip stitch in the center of the sun (the base of the CH 4)

Step 4: slip stitch in the next stitch of the center of the sun. Repeat Steps 1-4 for each ray (should be 12 rays). If you want 6 rays, make 2 slip stitches instead of 1 slip stitch in this step.

The sun crochet applique is ready! :)




THE FLOWER CROCHET APPLIQUE.

The stem:

CH 13 (or more if you want the stem longer- experiment with it! ).

The leaf: Slip stitch in the 2nd from the hook stitch, SC in the next stitch.

DC 3

SC and a slip stitch.

CH 4

Slip stitch inthe 2nd fromn the hook stitch, make slip stitches in each stitch of the stem.

The stem and the leaf are ready! :)
