Recommended weight yarn: Medium to worsted weight (weight category #4) I used Red Heart Super Saver in Light Raspberry and Soft White. Recommended crochet hook size: I 9 (5.5 mm) to J 10 (6.00 mm) Abbreviations and stitches used in Striped Crochet Handbag Pattern: CH - chain, SC - single crochet, HDC - half double crochet, DC - double crochet, TC - treble crochet. The gauge: 13 SC in 4'' (10 cm); 14 rows in 4'' (10 cm). |
Note: 2 types of abbreviations used in the Crochet handbag Pattern:
SC 2 (the # of stitches is AFTER the stitch's abbreviation) means: make two single crochet stitches in two stitches of the previous row.
2SC (the # of stitches is BEFORE the stitch's abbreviation) means: make two single crochet stitches in one stitch (increase).
For example, [SC 2, 2SC] means: make a SC in the first stitch, then another SC in the second stitch, and then make 2 SC together in the third stitch (an increase).
This crochet handbag pattern is a tutorial for a beginner - intermediate level.
The striped bottom of the crochet bag.
The striped bottom of the bag is made of 2 half-circles joined together. Change the yarn color every 2 rows for the stripes. (Do not cut off the yarn every time you need to change the color - just cross the yarns in the back of the work, drop the current yarn and pick up the other color yarn).
