Recommended weight yarn: Medium to worsted weight (weight category #4) I used Red Heart Super Saver in Light Raspberry and Soft White.

Recommended crochet hook size: I 9 (5.5 mm) to J 10 (6.00 mm)

Abbreviations and stitches used in Brown Crochet Bag Pattern:

CH - chain, SC - single crochet, DC - double crochet.

The gauge: 13 SC in 4'' (10 cm); 14 rows in 4'' (10 cm).

The difficulty level of the Brown Crochet Bag Pattern: beginner intermediate.

If you use recommended yarn and crochet hook size, the crochet handbag will be approximately 14 1/2 in (37 cm) wide and 10 1/2 in (27 cm) high (the handle is not included).

Note: 2 types of abbreviations used in the Brown Crochet Bag Pattern:

SC 2 (the # of stitches is AFTER the stitch's abbreviation) means: make two single crochet stitches in two stitches of the previous row.

2SC (the # of stitches is BEFORE the stitch's abbreviation) means: make two single crochet stitches in one stitch (increase).

For example, [SC 2, 2SC] means: make a SC in the first stitch, then another SC in the second stitch, and then make 2 SC together in the third stitch (an increase).

Start the crochet handbag from the bottom. It should be a flat circle.

Make 14 rows: do not make a slip stitch at the end of each row and do not start each row with CH 1 - work in spirals instead, attach the stitch marker to indicate the beginning of each row and move it up as your work progresses.

CH 3, join in a ring with a slip stitch

Row #1: SC 6 in the ring.

Row #2: 2 SC in each stitch, total = 12 stitches in this row.

Row #3: [SC, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 18 stitches in this row.

Row #4: [SC 2, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 24 stitches in this row.

Row #5: [SC 3, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 30 stitches in this row.

Row #6: [SC 4, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 36 stitches in this row.

Row #7: [SC 5, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 42 stitches in this row.

Row #8: [SC 6, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 48 stitches in this row.

Row #9: [SC 7, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 54 stitches in this row.

Row #10: [SC 8, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 60 stitches in this row.

Row #11: [SC 9, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 66 stitches in this row.

Row #12: [SC 10, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 72 stitches in this row.

Row #13: [SC 11, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 78 stitches in this row.

Row #14: [SC 12, 2SC] repeat [ ] 6 times around the row. Total = 84 stitches in this row.

This is the flat circle bottom of the crochet handbag.

Rows ## 15 - 39: (25 rows): SC in each SC all around the row. Slip stitch at the end of the last row (Row #39).

Now the crochet handbag looks like a bowl and we need to make a handle.

The side of the bag (and the short side of the handle):

Step 1: Turn your work and make 42 SC (SC in each stitch for the half of the bag - this will be the first side and handle), *turn, SC in each SC * (it will be SC 41), turn, SC 40, turn, SC 39 and repeat * * until you have 14 stitches in the row - approximately 28 rows. (If you do not make a CH 1 at the beginning of the row after the turn, you will loose 1 stitch and the length of the row decreases by 1 stitch).

Step 2: After you have only 14 stitches remaining in your row, continue to make rows without decrease:

Turn, CH 1, SC in each SC along the row.

Make approximately 70 rows (the length of the short end of the handle to tie the knot should be 20 in (51 cm), fast off.

Attach the yarn to the stitch next to the Step 1 first stitch and repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the second side and handle to tie, but make the second handle (Step 2) longer:43 inches (110 cm) or 150 rows instead of 20 in (51 cm) and 70 rows. Do not fast off, make a row of SC stitches all around the handles-ties, sides of the bag, slip stitch at the end.

Tie the handles into the nice knot - the bag is almost ready, just add the flowers!

6 - PETALS FLOWER with wide center.

CH 6, join in a ring with a slip stitch.

CH 1, SC 12 in the ring, slip stitch.

Step 1: CH 1, 3DC in the next stitch

Step 2: slip stitch in the next stitch.

Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for 6 petals, cut off the yarn leaving approximately 14 in (35 cm0 of yarn to sew on the flower.

Make 12-14 flowers and sew them on to the bag. Weave in the ends and secure the knots.

The Brown crochet handbag is ready!
