Butterfly Crochet Pattern.
This is a free butterfly crochet pattern with pictures of every step of the process. The difficulty level is intermediate. If you are a beginner i have Small Butterfly Crochet Pattern wich is easier for the starter.
The approximate size of the ready butterfly using this easy crochet pattern is 2 3/4 in or 7 cm in the widest part. You can make the crochet butterfly applique in one or in two colors.

Recommended yarn: medium weight or worsted weight (weight category #4). I used Red Heart Super Saver. Recommended crochet hook: I9/5.5 mm or J10/6.00 mm Stitches and abbreviations used: CH - chain, SC - single crochet, DC - double crochet, TC - treble crochet, slip stitch.

The crochet butterfly applique starts from the center.

The body: CH 4, join in a ring with a slip stitch
|
The tentacles: * CH 13, sl st in the second from the hook stitch, slip stitches all along the chain, sl st in the ring *

Repeat from * to * for the second tentacle.
|
Tie the knots at the ends of the tentacles. If you want to make the wings with the different color yarn, fast off and attach the different color yarn.

The 1st wing: CH 8, slip stitch in the 2nd from the hook stitch, make 2 more slip stitches.

Make a cluster of 3 TC in a ring: begin to make a TC but when you have drawn the yarn through 2 loops twice, hold the two loops on a hook and begin another TC in the ring. Again draw the yarn through 2 loops twice. Repeat one more time. There are now 4 loops on the hook.

Yarn over and finish those 3 TC at once drawing the yarn through all 4 loops you have on the hook.
CH 3 and slip sticth in the yellow ring to finish the 1st wing.

The 2nd wing: CH 6, slip stitch in the second stitch, another slip stitch.

Make a cluster of 3 DC in a ring: begin to make a DC but when you have drawn the yarn through 2 loops once, hold the two loops on a hook and begin another TC in the ring. Again draw the yarn through 2 loops once. Repeat one more time. There are now 4 loops on the hook.

Yarn over and finish those 3 DC at once drawing the yarn through all 4 loops you have on the hook. CH 3, slip stitch in the yellow ring to finish the 2nd wing.

Slip stitch in the second stitch, another slip stitch, CH 3. Slip stitch in the yellow ring to finish the 3rd wing.

The 4th wing: CH 3, Make a cluster of 3 TC in a ring: begin to make a TC but when you have drawn the yarn through 2 loops twice, hold the two loops on a hook and begin another TC in the ring. Again draw the yarn through 2 loops twice. Repeat one more time. There are now 4 loops on the hook.

Yarn over and draw the yarn through all 4 loops on the hook. CH 4.

Slip stitch in the second stitch, 2 more slip stitches.

CH 4, slip stitch in the yellow ring to finish the 4th wing.
